J. J. Abrams To Tackle “The Dark Tower” After “Lost”

Category : News

“As soon as Lost is done, hopefully we’ll get to begin tackling that [The Dark Tower].”

J. J. Abrams confirmed in an IGN interview that he’d begin the monumental task of adapting Stephen King’s epic series The Dark Tower.  Details are still sketchy on how they will do this (7 part movie series or TV mini-series) and no further details have emerged.

Stephen King himself sold J. J. Abrams’ company Bad Robot the rights to adapt The Dark Tower back in 2007 because he was so impressed with Lost.  This indeed will be a massive undertaking.  Paramount would risk a lot signing a 7 picture deal.  Harry Potter is the only successful multi-picture series that has maintained it’s dignity (Unlike the Friday the 13th or the Nightmare on Elm Street series) and the jury is still out on the Narnia series.

I am excited about the news.  If anyone can tackle The Dark Tower, I think we’re in good hands with J. J. Abrams.  This is a story I’ll be following very closely.
