Last night, during the American Idol Results Show, when the contestants came out to sing their God-awful group performance I turned to my wife and speculated they were lip syncing. I then sent out a message into the Twitterverse.
Well, today my speculations were confirmed with The New York Times article ‘Idol’ Group Numbers: Not So Live After All:
A spokesman for the producers of “American Idol” said as much on Wednesday, after assertions by a former “American Idol” contestant that the weekly group numbers, which are performed near the beginning of each week’s results show, appear to be using recorded vocals this year.
This is why I watch the show. Even though there is actually one relevant artist this year, I love to make fun of the stupidity of the producers and judges. You’d think we’d have learned from Milli Vanilli. Well, at least we won’t see any Kanye West performances again.
