In order for more of us to drink the Avatar Kool Aide, a featurette has been released to hopefully quiet down the “Geek Hate” of James Cameron’s new “Visionary Masterpiece” Avatar.
It’s pretty interesting. I’m still looking forward to seeing Avatar in 3D with no pre-conceived expectations. Everything new I’ve seen has helped wash the bad taste of the first Teaser trailer that was rushed out earlier last month.
Yahoo! has the full theatrical trailer for James Cameron’s Avatar. I’m more sold than I was with the first trailer, but there’s so much hear that reminds me of so many other movies.
I’m not impressed with the plot, but dang the visuals look tasty. I plan on catching this in 3D during a matinee showing, for sure.
Stallone is bringing it like it’s 1985 with his new homage to 80′s action flicks, The Expendables. Here’s the awesomely ridiculous extended trailer of machismo.
Watch it. Love it. I’m going to do me some sit ups.
The Expendables is currently slated to hit theaters on August 20, 2010.
Law Abiding Citizen is a thriller about a brilliant sociopath who orchestrates a series of high-profile murders that grip the city of Philadelphia – all from inside his jail cell – and the prosecutor assigned to his case who realizes he is the only one who can end the reign of terror.
Nicolas Cage is back! Nicolas Cage’s bad hair is back! Nicolas Cage’s acting is over the top!
I know all this is a surprise to you. But, all the craziness of Nic Cage aside, I’m interested in checking out the pseudo remake Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans by equally insane Werner Herzog. I’m positive the Harvey Keitel is the better version, but let’s hope this Bad Lieutenant doesn’t have any Nic Cage frontal nudity. I’m still trying to forget Harvey Keitel’s frank & beans…..(shudder)…..
The long awaited trailer to Toy Story 3 is out! I’m interested to see where this goes. Looks like Andy is off to college and Woody, Buzz and all the toys end up in a Day Care.
The plot seems kind of thin here, not sure where they’ll go with it. But, I trust Pixar 100% and am looking forward to taking my kids to see this opening weekend!
Mamoru Oshii, director of The Ghost in the Shell and Avalon is back and looking better than ever! Assault Girls follows trio of female hunters live in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, where they must battle the fearsome sand whales that plague their world.
Just watch the trailer and you’ll be as excited for this as I am. Assault Girls will be in limited release in Japan on December 19th. No word on any U.S. release, but let’s keep our fingers crossed for a Region Free Blu Ray someday!
I really can’t wait for Vincenzo Natali’s film Splice, starring Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, Delphine Chaneac, David Hewlett, and Brandon McGibbon. The film is also produced by creature genious Guillermo del Toro.
No news yet on U.S. Disribution as the Movie Studio has experienced some financial problems. I hope this film comes out sooner rather than later!
Plot Synopsis:
Splice tells the tale of Elsa and Clive, two young rebellious scientists who defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named Dren, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators – only to have that bond turn deadly.
Check out this ridiculous clip from Roland Emmerich‘s Disaster Porn flick, 2012. John Cusack & Co outrun a giant earthquake in a Limo!!
This could be brainless fun in the theater. Matinee for sure.
Plot Synopsis for 2012:
Disaster movie maven Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) crafts this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller following an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe, making contact with his double in an effort to prevent the catastrophic prophecies of the ancient Mayan calendar from coming to pass. According to the Mayan calendar, the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.
When a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) uses his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to ensure that the human race is not completely wiped out. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Amanda Peet, Thandie Newton, and Oliver Platt round out the cast of this end-of-the-world thriller co-scripted by the director and his 10,000 B.C. writer/composer, Harald Kloser
Troy Duffy is back with is SECOND film (?), the follow up to his original cult hit The Boondock Saints. I’m a little concerned about he absence of Willam Dafoe, since he was the best part of the original, however this looks like it could be fun.
