Platinum Dunes Sets Us All Up For Disappointment with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Remake

Category : News

Platinum Dunes is making a name for themselves with Remakes, Reboots, Redo’s or whatever they’re called.

Platinum Dunes 8-Step Film Making Formula:

Step 1: Pay for the rights of a beloved genre property.

Step 2: Hire an unimaginative team of screenwriters.

Step 3: Hire a music video director.

Step 4: Rent/Buy the biggest fog machine possible.

Step 5: Watch Michael Bay masturbate.

Step 6: Provide a half ass, watchable, yet immediately forgettable movie.

Step 7: Watch fanboy/girls cry into their palms and then venomously bitch and moan via the internet.

Step 8: Wipe collective asses with handfuls of $100 bills.

That 8 Step Formula will be applied to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property.  *Shrug*

elmstreet2010-poster1

With the release of the first official picture of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger in 2010′s remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, I’ve been hoping for a full on Freddy pic.

None yet.  But I did find this badass poster.

First Image of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger!

When I heard that Academy Award Winner Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children, Watchmen) was putting on the striped sweater, hat and claws to play the iconic Freddy Krueger, I was pretty excited.  I think he’s the only actor that can pull off this role made iconic by Robert Englund.

Anyway, here’s the first glimpse of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy from the Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.  If you were disappointed by the campiness of the Friday the 13th remake (I actually dug it), prepare for a serious, non glossy and scary Nightmare on Elm Street.  I’m hearing some great things so far through the rumor-mille.  We’ll have to wait and see.

More pics of the new Freddy will be coming later today . . .

Friday the 13th

Opening night “In-Theater Experience”:

Rating: ★★★½☆

Actual Movie:

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Directed By: Marcus Nispel

Starring: Jared PadaleckiDanielle Panabaker, and Derek Mears

Plot Synopsis:

After the supposed death of her son at a summer camp, a mother begins to kill the camp employees. After her death at the hands of the remaining employees, her son returns to continue her bloody work.

Review:

10:15pm, on Friday the 13th 2009 I sat in a packed theater filled with 75% black hoodie and T-shirt wearing males.  The remaining 25% was comprised of high school guys with unsuspecting girlfriend in tow.  Oh, and one parent who thought they could hid their infant (hearing a baby crying during a horror flick is really strange).
