I Love You, Man is Loved; Knowing Not So Much

Category : News

iloveknowing

Looks like Alex Proyas has given us another stinker.  Since Dark City and The Crow, he has failed to deliver on the genius of those films.  Garage Days was lame (44% on the Tomatometer).  I, Robot (54% on the Tomatometer) was underwelming.  Looking at the reviews, it looks like Knowing is even worse than the previous two with 25% on the Rotten Tomatoes “Tomatometer.”

On the other hand, the non-Apatow comedy, I Love You, Man is getting better-than-expected reviews (82% on the Tomatometer).  Paul Rudd is showing he can be a great comedic leading man.  First with Role Models and now with I Love You, Man I’m sure we’ll see more Paul Rudd flicks in the future.

See quotes from reviews of these films along with links to the reviews after the jump.

I Love You, Man reactions:

Rotten Tomatoes: I Love You, Man makes the most of its simple premise due to the heartfelt and hilarious performances of Paul Rudd and Jason Segel.”

/Film, David Chen“What I appreciated most was the way that the film captured the modern American male condition with thought and humor.”

GeekTyrant tweet: “Just saw I Love You Man. I thought it was really funny.”

Knowing Reactions:

Rotten Tomatoes: “Knowing has some interesting ideas and a couple good scenes, but it’s weighted down by its absurd plot and over-seriousness.”

Dreadcentral: “The movie dissolves into Cage running around trying to warn people about the numbers, but he doesn’t know exactly what is going to happen or where it’s coming from, so we get the crazy doomsayer routine by day and boozing while lamenting by night.”

Chud: “This movie is too long and too dull to go into the schlock pantheon. Or, in fact, into anything but the ever-growing, perpetually disappointing ‘nice try’ pile.”

Neptunesalad tweet: At ALL costs, avoid seeing Knowing.”
