If you’re like me, the whole month of October is pretty much Halloween. I love the holiday and start celebrating it on October 1st by beginning to watch mass amounts of scary movies. So, in order to help you plan your Halloween viewing parties, here is a list of my top 5 Horror Blu Ray/DVD releases of 2009. I’ll even include Netflix links so you can easily add them to your list.
Spooky Dan from Bloody Disgusting recently gave us Twilight: The Puppet Saga (I failed to post that, see it after the jump). Well, Spooky Dan and Co (Tammy Sutton, Brian Lopiano, Tom Zimmerman, Elissa Dowling, and Micah Galo) have created another puppet parody with Repo! The Puppet Opera. Pretty hilarious stuff.
Repo! The Genetic Opera suffered the “Straight to DVD/Blu-Ray” death it didn’t deserve. However, due to the success of the Repo! Road Shows, Lionsgate is sending it out on its 4th run. It’s pretty cool to see the fans of this little gem have an impact. The Repo! Road Shows are midnight showings and are definitely an event, so if you have a chance head out to see this in a theater if it’s near you. Read my review here.
Trailer and full Repo! Road Show dates after the jump.
In the year 2056 – the not so distant future – an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family’s mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.
