“Went to a screening at the mpls/st. paul film festival this weekend. Check out the movie Lo—great writing, low budget, but super well done. It looks scary in the trailer but it’s more a dark hilarious comedy”
Laid to Rest is the terrifying story of a young girl (Bobbi Sue Luther) who wakes up in a casket with a traumatic head injury and no memory of her identity. She quickly realizes she was abducted by ChromeSkull (Nick Principe), a metal-masked serial killer with the money and means to emulate the 1980s Slashers. Isolated in an unfamiliar rural town, the Girl and those who have come to her aid must survive the night and outsmart the technologically inclined murderer who video records his vicious killings and is determined to finish his masterpiece tape featuring “the Girl.”
Review:
With over-saturation of remakes, re-imaginings, and reboots, it’s nice when a little slasher flick shows some originality. Laid to Restdoes owe a lot to slashers of the 80s, however, this low budget flick boasts some fantastic gore and a memorable baddie with Chrome Skull.
It’s cool to take a look at how far the Horror genre has come. This is a little slice of history, made available to everyone via the Internet. Pretty cool.
This actually looks better than expected. OK, Rob. You have me interested.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 (H2) picks up at the exact moment the first movie stopped and follow the aftermath of Michael Myers murderous rampage through the eyes of heroine Laurie Strode.
Bloody Disgusting finally got their hands on high quality footage of that Entertainment Tonight piece on Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2. We finally get a glimpse of what the film may look like, including a tease at the controversial new mask!
Also, Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2trailer will premiere on YouTube this Friday for an exclusive one-week engagement. Dimension Films has the film slated for release on August 28th.
Currently in post production, the marketing of the horror flick Tormented is in full swing. Last week I posted the trailer, and this week I have some viral videos to show off. See more after the jump!
A young couple has retreated to the wilderness for a romantic camping weekend-but the trip quickly spirals into a nightmare when they are car-jacked by an escaped convict and his girlfriend. Thrown together by chance, no one can imagine the terrifying horror that awaits the two couples at a remote and isolated gas station.
Review:
I love a good monster flick. The plots are simple (man vs. creature) and are a great excuse for some clever visual effects work. Since the CGI revolution, monster flicks have been a bit underwhelming. It seems there has been a resurgence of practical effects making their way back to movies. I noticed this with the great (yet poorly titled) Alien Raiders and now with Toby Wilkins low budget monster movie Splinter. Both these movies owe a lot to The Thing, and I think things are looking up for the Monster Flick.
Found some info on Bloody Disgusting that made my day. Apparently, Michael Dougherty’s Trick ‘r Treat may be coming to Blu-Ray this year. The movie is on a list for a Buy 5-get-1-freepromotion for Warner Home Video. We’ll see how this pans out. Other notable titles on this promotion are: Ninja Assassin, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Watchmen, Observe & Report, Terminator Salvation, The Hangover and more. Looks like I’ll be stocking up later this year!
A group of people are trapped in a large West Berlin movie theater infected by ravenous demons whom proceed to kill and posses the humans one-by-one thereby multiplying their numbers,
Review:
Demonsis one of those movies I would always see on the back Horror shelf of the video store as a kid. I remember looking through all the vhs boxes imagining what these movies were like. In the process, I would freak myself out and most likely have a nightmare that night. Finally, 20 years later I’m catching up on all the great horror flicks of the 80s, and the Italian gore-fest Demons is 80s mayhem at it’s best.
