JT Woodruff (Hawthorne Heights) To Release Solo LP “Field Medicine” on March 18 via InVogue Records

jtpic

The name Hawthorne Heights has never done anything for me. Was never a fan, will probably never be. In fact, when I first saw this press release, I let out a huge “MEEEEH.”

BUT, I can admit when I’m wrong about something. JT Woodruff’s song “Field Medicine” from his upcoming solo release is pretty fucking good.

Here’s his video and press release regarding his upcoming LP out in March 18th via InVogue Records:

SHOW: Sean’s Unsigned Rock Show #14
AIR DATE: Tue, 09 Jan 2007

I really dug the band Everdae. They were from Downey, CA and put out a solid EP. However, their singer Omar decided to leave the band to start his own pop-synth solo project, Ohmie. Here is the interview with Paul and Omar that took place right after their EP came out.

Merriment’s Debut Album “Sway” Gets April 8th Release on Equal Vision Records

merriment

Equal Vision Records has announced that Merriment‘s debut album Sway will release on April 8th during their stint with siblings (and cousin) Eisley. Merriment is Christie and Colin DuPree, brother and sister to Chauntelle, Sherri, Stacy, and Weston DuPree and cousins to Garron DuPree who all form the band Eisley. I’ve never been a huge fan of Eisley, but hearing only two of Merriment’s songs has me hooked. Look for a full album review within the next couple weeks.

Music Review – Arliss Nancy, “Wild American Runners”

arlissnancyArtist: Arliss Nancy
Album: Wild American Runner
Label: Black Numbers
Release Date: Out Now – Vinyl / Digital
RIYL: Drive-By Truckers, Lucero, The Replacements, The Hold Steady, The Gaslight Anthem
★★★★½

I’ve always felt that if an album can garner the feel of a live performance then that album is guaranteed to age incredibly well. Artists like Bruce Springsteen, Paul Westerberg, even Bad Religion and Pennywise have all accomplished a sense of timelessness with each album. Arliss Nancy blends Americana, Country and a dash of punk together into an enticing listen with their third studio album Wild American Runners. Whether you’re driving down an old highway, out on the porch drinking and smoking or just spinning the record with headphones on, Arliss Nancy feels like a band already weathered from the road. Each song conjures up a smokey bar and whiskey soaked booths.

Sub Pop Announces “Record Store Day” Releases

SP_RSD_2014

Record Store Day will be here before we know it and labels have started announcing their special releases for that day. We will post more announcements from other labels as they trickle in.

What is Record Store Day? This is the one day each year that all of the independently-owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases, and various promotional products, are made exclusively for the day, and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, cook-outs, body painting, meet & greets with artists, parades, DJs spinning records, and on and on. Metallica officially kicked off Record Store Day at Rasputin Music in San Francisco on April 19, 2008 and Record Store Day is now celebrated the third Saturday of every April.  http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home
