Star Wars Blu Ray Announcement Greeted With “Meh.” and Shrugs

Category : News

Star Wars if finally coming to Blu Ray.  That announcement was met with a collective nerd shrug as there was no announcement regarding the un-enhanced Original Trilogy appearing on the Blu Ray set.  Do we really want to see bad CGI “enhancements” continuing to plague the Star Wars Trilogy? And does anyone care to see the Prequels and all their wooden acting and bad CGI in High Def? George Lucas thinks so!

Lucasfilm Director of Fan Relations Steve Sansweet gave tidbits of information about the Blu Ray set but nothing definitive.  There will be new extra features, including orginal dailies and such.  But, the big elephant is still in the room: the Original Versions of the Star Wars Trilogy.  Given a shit-tastic 4:3 Letterboxed treatement on the last run of DVD sets, we felt shit on by Lucas himself.  This was proof that George Lucas doesn’t want to preserve the Trilogy as many of us (who have made him rich) fondly remember it.

So, until there is a Star Wars release worth purchasing again, I’ll coninue to hold on to my Original Star Wars VHS trilogy.
