12-Year-Old Killed By Train While Listening to iPod

September 22, 2010 in News

While listening to his iPod (really, it could have been any portable music device), 12-year-old Caesar Muloki walked directly in front of a train and did not hear the New Jersey Transit train’s horn.  Witnesses say he was running along the tracks when he decided to dart across, while the engineer pulled the emergency brake and sounded the train’s horn.  Caesar did not see or hear the train and was fatally struck.

With so many people spending so much of their day with earbuds in their ears, I’m actually suprised this doesn’t happen more often.  However, walking on train tracks while listening to loud music isn’t the best combination in the first place.
