Buying movies is almost a dangerous obession with me.  I love it, and probably have spent more money on movies in my lifetime than any sane person.  At least I’m not spending money on heroine.

New Movie Tuesday is my favorite day of the week.  Here are this week’s releases as well as my recommendations.

Being the film snob I am, I will recommend the Blu Ray versions of these flicks if available.

Public Enemies

Public Enemies split audiences in theaters, but it’s Michael Mann’s brave technical film making that sets this apart from the pack. Great performances, spectacular sound design, and unique use of HD digital cameras nudge this into a Must Buy.

The Cove

Can a documentary be a thrilling nail biter? I’m hearing YES with The Cove.
Too bad there’s no Blu Ray, though.

RENT IT

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince $14.99 Although it is insanely cheap to buy on Blu, this Harry Potter seems to be more of a bore than other installments. Has Harry worn out his welcome? Rent before you buy on this one.	World’s Greatest Dad $23.99 This is NOT a comedy. Robin Williams gives a stand out performance in this extremely dark dramedy.	Julie & Julia $25.99 Women all over the world are singing the praises of Julie & Julia. If you’re a dude, you could do worse on a date night with the lady.
