Made for $3,000 and based on the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkein’s masterpiece The Lord of the Rings, fan Chris Bouchard has created the fanfilm: The Hunt for Gollum. This follows Strider (Aragon) as he sets out to find the creature Gollum and discover the truth about the Ring.
I am impressed by the quality of this short film. Running 38 minutes long, it boasts some pretty impressive visuals. A few scenes, or pieces of scenes look taken from Peter Jackson’s trilogy, but incorporated really well. You can view trailer above and then the entire short film after the jump, or watch it in HD at thehuntforgollum.com.
The Hunt for Gollum was produced as a not-for-profit film by Brian Lavery with a team of 160 volunteers who all share a passion for Lord of the Rings films, incuding the director Chris Bouchard.
